FIELD: assembling cores of pressurized-water reactors. SUBSTANCE: fuel assembly has fuel elements joined to bottom support grid by means of fastening unit. The latter is, essentially, cylinder flexible in cross-sectional area installed in seating hole of support grid. Fillet provided in cylinder bottom contacts surface of annular groove which is coaxial with seating hole below bottom end of support grid which holds fuel element in position within support grid. Cylinder flexibility in cross- sectional area is provided due to its sectional design. Diameters of cylinder and seating hole must meet definite relations including also distance from top end of support grid to surface of fillet contacting annular groove. EFFECT: reduced vulnerability of fuel elements to damage during their installation or refueling, reduced vibration of fuel elements, improved efficiency of fuel utilization. 9 cl, 5 dwg
