FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, intensification of technological processes in liquid metals for improvement of their qualities. SUBSTANCE: method of electromagnetic refining of conducting melt by exposure the melt to effect of travelling electromagnetic field consists in that travelling electromagnetic field acts by spiral trajectory on melt and current with density of not less than 10 A/sq.mm is passed through melt in zone of refining. Travelling electromagnetic field is sufficient for provision of rotation and translational motion of conducting melt of high intensity capable of separating the particles with different specific density into fractions located at different distances from rotation axis. Action of electrical current by means of electromagnetic forces intensifies separation of melt particles with different specific density by concentrating them at different distances from rotation axis and holding there for some time required for bringing impurities out of melt to ensure separation of conducting melt into fractions with high, low and medium specific density and subsequent withdrawal of fractions with high and low specific densities from the further technological process.
