FIELD: conversion engineering. SUBSTANCE: batteries assembled of semiconductor cells are mounted on pontoons floating on water surface contaminated with radionuclides. Such batteries may be also mounted on contaminated soil or on surfaces of buildings surrounded by atmosphere contaminated with radionuclides. Radioactive rays reaching semiconductor cell induce electromotive force in the latter with the result that current starts flowing in it.
