FIELD: mass spectrometry; high-performance hyperbolic mass spectrometers with simple analyzers. SUBSTANCE: method involves confining working volume of three-dimensional hyperbolic analyzer along separation axis within region r1 wherein analyzed ions perform periodic or almost periodic unipolar oscillations under effect of ac field. Working points of analyzed ions are arranged along separation axis at boundary of stability region and along other coordinate axes, deep in stability region. Analyzer of one-dimensional hyperbolic mass spectrometer has two axisymmetric hyperbolic electrodes with radii r2 in hemisphere of z > 0, as well as shielding electrode in the form of truncated cone and semi-transparent correcting electrode. Ions are formed under the effect of electron beam within analyzer working volume at zero potential across electrodes. Dimensions of field- forming electrodes are chosen considering free passage of electron beam. Phase of ac field is matched with coordinate origins and particle speeds. Separated ions are discharged through holes in bottom field-forming electrode. EFFECT: simplified design of analyzer electrode system, improved service life and parameters of hyperbolic mass spectrometers. 2 cl, 2 dwg
