FIELD: electromobile drives. SUBSTANCE: drive has power converter built around high- frequency power transistor and diode, double-pole contactor, and self-excited DC motor. Motor field winding is connected through reversing field regulator to storage capacitor which is connected through blocking diode to converter input terminals and functions to protect converter against voltage surges. Power thyristor is inserted in motor-to-converter coupling circuit. Drive also has control system unit that functions to shape signals for converter control and also for throwing contactor in movement and recuperative braking modes of operation as well as for its turning-off in pulsed braking mode. In spite of only one transistor and one diode incorporated in converter electric motor can operated in all modes at the same time using commutation loss energy for energizing field winding.
