FIELD: non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy; method of hot repair of lining of metallurgical units and lining of metallurgical reservoir in course of their operation. SUBSTANCE: method consists in regulated mode of application of coat on refractory lining which reduces wear of lining in course of operation of unit (or metallurgical reservoir). According to method, final slag is left in metallurgical unit or in metallurgical reservoir; final slag is blown out at position of tuyere relative to level of bottom of metallurgical unit or metallurgical reservoir equal to 0.01 to 150 passes at blow intensity of 0.25 to 70 cu.m/min.t of steel. Slag lining is applied on lining of metallurgical unit or metallurgical reservoir. Slag may be blown out with oxygen, air, neutral or reducing gas, carbon dioxide. Before and during blowing-out of slag, loose, slag-forming, gas-liberating materials, materials enhancing refractory properties of lining and/or carbon-containing materials may be added in amount of 1 to 35 kg/t of steel. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency; reduced wear of lining; improved technical-and-economic indices. 17 cl, 1 tbl, 1 App
