FIELD: construction of catalytic converters; production of ammonia, methanol and hydrogen. SUBSTANCE: converter consists of two stages arranged in one lined housing provided with reaction tubes in lower portion filled with catalyst for first stage; tubes are made in form of modules; catalyst layer of second conversion stage is located in upper portion of housing. Tight bundles of tubes are embraced by profiled casings on outer and inner sides; surfaces of these casings are congruent relative to surfaces of reaction tubes secured in tube sheets to which collecting chambers adjoin. Each module is provided with collecting riser mounted axially; upper portion of this riser is secured to upper tube sheet and lower portion passes through lower collecting chamber where tube with compensator is located concentrically relative to lower portion of riser. Reaction tubes are provided with bellows in their lower portion; protective partition is mounted under upper tube sheet and fairing is mounted in upper collecting chamber. Outer profiled casing is provided with guide ferrule; module is provided with heat insulation and protective hood at the top. EFFECT: enhanced productivity and heat exchange. 7 cl, 4 dwg
