SEAT-TYPE FURNITURE CONVERTIBLE INTO BED Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: production of convertible furniture. SUBSTANCE: seat-type furniture has three-sectional construction with sections connected one with another and may be converted from "sofa" position to "bed" position by folding along section joining lines, with flexible joining unit, such as hinge, being used in this construction. Auxiliary section is fixed on movable base at two points by pivot joints. Movable base has axially aligned rollers positioned on base rear wall and adapted for supporting front section of main module in horizontal position. Axially aligned rollers serve movable support for lever defined by auxiliary section of main module. Both sections of main module are drawn together by spring, which is actuated by rotation of auxiliary section relative to movable base, when furniture is to be converted from "bed" position in vertical direction. Spring provides conversion of furniture from "bed" position into "sofa" position and retains sections in required position. When furniture is in "bed" position, spring is disposed in common line of sections joining points and does not come into action spontaneously in the so called "meter" point, from which the whole construction is withdrawn by turning auxiliary section relative to base.
