FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking blood samples from patient and separating its native serum. Specimen is prepared by drying blood serum, mixing the so produced dry residue with petrolatum oil to produce suspension. Absorption spectra of the sample are recorded in the range of 1200-1000 cm-1 and peak heights are determined having maximum values at 1170, 1165, 1150, 1140, 1130, 1100, 1070, 1025 cm-1, and peak height mean (c) is to be calculated. R value as the ratio of 1165 cm-1 maximum peak height to that of 1170 cm-1 one, X value as the ratio of 1130 cm-1 maximum peak height to peak height mean (c), S value as the ratio of 1100 cm-1 maximum peak height to peak height mean (c) are to be calculated. R <0.37, X > 0.6, S > 0.7 being the case, diphtheria is to be diagnosed. R ≥ 0.37, X > 0.6, S > 0.7 being the case, angina is to be diagnosed. R ≥ 0.37, X ≤ 0.6, S ≤ 0.7 being the case, infectious mononucleosis is to be diagnosed. R <0.37, 0.6 <X ≤ 0.8, 0.7 <S ≤ 0.8 being the case, localized form of diphtheria is to be diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis. 2 cl
