FIELD: organic chemistry, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a new class of sulfoneamides of the formula (I) that are inhibitors of aspartylprotease. Invention relates also to a new class of HIV-aspartylprotease inhibitors exhibiting specific structural and physico-chemical properties. Invention relates to also pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds. Compounds and pharmaceutical compositions are suitable especially for inhibition of HIV-1 and HIV-2 protease activity and they can be used as effective antiviral agents against HIV-1 and HIV-2 viruses. The present invention relates also to methods of inhibition of activity of HIV-aspartylprotease by using compounds of the present invention and methods of screening compounds by their anti-HIV activity.
