FIELD: surgical technics. SUBSTANCE: oxidized-cellulose cloth is neutralized with chloride ion- free solution of weak organic acid calcium salt (0.5-4.0% Ca): about 50 to 80% of carboxyl groups are thus neutralized. The rest of carboxyl groups are then neutralized with sodium or potassium salt and excess salt is washed away. Resultant calcium-modified oxidized-cellulose hemostatic is more effective in stopping bleeding than unmodified or sodium or potassium-modified oxidized cellulose. Weight percentage of calcium should be within the range of 0.5 to 4 to prevent excessive loss in biological adsorbability. According to another embodiment of invention, oxidized-cellulose hemostatic is modified with calcium and sodium or potassium to be used when applying acid-sensitive materials. EFFECT: increased hemostatic efficiency. 9 cl, 2 tbl, 11 ex
