FIELD: processes and equipment for electrolysis, namely diaphragm type chlorine-alkali electrolyzer. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer includes cover, electrically conducting base for supporting anodes and cathode in the form of box having inner wall, outer wall and tubular pins made of latticed or perforated material and coated with porous diaphragm. One or more copper sheets for distributing electric current are secured to outer walls of cathode. Copper sheets and outer walls of cathode are joined by means of bolts with use of electrically conducting and deformed member characterized by after-elasticity at compression. Welded joints for assembling walls of cathode are free from inner stresses. EFFECT: simplified mounting, enhanced operational characteristics of cathode and diaphragm, increased useful life period of diaphragm. 14 cl, 8 dwg
