FIELD: protection of steels and alloys against corrosion. SUBSTANCE: method can be used to test condition of pipe- lines and equipment of nuclear aqueous boiling reactors. Essence of method consists in action with electrolyte on polished surface of analyzed microsection and in determination of resistance by character of arrangement of pittings by grain boundaries. Resistance to intercrystalline corrosion cracking is evaluated by value of relative extent of carbides and pittings in chain of any three adjacent grain boundaries. Evaluation of quality in agreement with proposed method makes feasible to differentiate welds resistant to intercrystalline corrosion cracking from welds unstable to intercrystalline corrosion cracking.
