FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: intermittent grinding wheel is formed of wheel assembled of thin abrasive discs secured on common shaft without axial clearance. By turning discs through angle α to plane perpendicular to shaft axis, assembled wheel is transformed from cylindrical wheel into oval one with projections and hollows, i.e., into inclined intermittent wheel. In case of long-time operation, when projections get worn out, wheel is turned into inclined cylindrical one due to self-grinding. By returning discs into initial position assembled wheel is turned into intermittent but straight one already, and it operates at slope angle of α = 0.. IN this case, former hollows of inclined wheel are turned into projections of straight wheel, and former projections of inclined wheel, into hollows of straight wheel. As straight wheel projections wear out, and wheel is turned into cylinder, discs are positioned obliquely, and process is repeated. Given method does not require additional expenditures, equipment and appliances for its realization. It is simple and reliable. Cutting is not accompanied by impacts, and hollows are turned into projections continuously. EFFECT: improved treatment quality, enhanced efficiency. 1 ex, 7 dwg
