FIELD: deep peripheral grinding of hard-to-work materials having tendency to occurring of flaws such as burnouts and microcracking, particularly, grinding part at controlling heat flux directed into it. SUBSTANCE: method is realized at relative motion of blank and buildup grinding disc. The last is in the form of even number of abrasive discs mounted on common mandrel with axial gap one relative to another. Each disc is in the form of truncated circular cylinder whose one end is inclined by acute angle α to plane normal relative to its rotation axis. Discs are mounted in pairs in such a way that their unbalanced portions are arranged diametrically opposite and in antiphase; their tapered ends are turned one to another and they are mutually parallel. Gap between discs may be regulated by means of spacing washers. In description of invention formula is given for calculating angle α in depending upon outer diameter, minimum height of abrasive disc and axial gap between discs. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of grinding due to optimized thermal stress of process, improved quality of ground parts due to oscillation of mean portion of cutting zone. 7 dwg
