FIELD: analytical chemistry, more particularly concentration, separation and identification of various inorganic and organic substances. SUBSTANCE: method comprises hydrolyzing tetraethoxy silane in ethanol in the presence of 0.01-0.1 M aqueous solution of ammonium hexafluorosilicate and subsequently drying by using irradiation power of 300-100 W. Method makes it possible to prepare porous silicon dioxide with different specific surface area from 400 to 1000 sq.m/g for 15-60 min. Prepared power has sufficient strength to attrition and is used in 5-10 analytical cycles. EFFECT: desired physicochemical characteristics of porous silicon dioxide. 8 ex, 1 tbl
