FIELD: treatment of exhaust gases, or modification of surface of various substances. SUBSTANCE: exhaust gas with additives of ammonia, containing at least nitrogen oxides (NOx), is radiated by electron beams with formation of byproducts. The rate of flow of exhaust gas is set within 1.0 to 25 m/s. The exhaust gas temperature is set to not lower than its dew point, and not higher than 100 C. Radiation is performed by electron beams with a dose of 0.1 to 30 J/kg, the above electron beams have a pulse time and space shape in electron beam generator; the pulse frequency and length are selected within the respective ranges of 10 Hz to 100 kHz and 10-8 to 10-5 s respectively.
