FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to laying pipelines preferably made of non-metal materials. According to method, working member of device is displaced in ground mass due to application of shock load to it. Bore-hole is thus produced in ground by working member because of radial compaction of ground. Pipeline is then placed in bore-hole and axial force is applied to it for its displacement in bore-hole behind working member. In process of formation of bore-hole, additional axial force is applied to working member so as to prevent its shifting in direction opposite to driving. During this process, continuous contact is maintained between pipeline and working member. Device has following components: percussive-action mechanism, working member, pressing member, and mechanism for transmitting axial force to pressing member. Working member is secured on body of percussive-action mechanism. Body of mechanism can be axially displaced inside space of pressing member. Working member is made in the form of head-piece adapted for radial compaction of ground. Maximal area of lateral cross-section of working part of head-piece is not less than area of lateral cross-section of pressing member. Application of aforesaid method and device allows for reducing energy-inputs in laying pipelines. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 7 cl, 2 dwg
