FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention can be used in testing valve springs as members of internal combustion engines. Compression spring testing method comes to the following: spring to be tested is first checked for geometry, then force is applied to provide axial displacement, and stress in coils is checked at axial displacement. Vibrations at preset amplitude and frequency are generated at movable end face. Prior to generating vibrations, spring is stretched to value of axial displacement exceeding maximum tolerable value of axial compression displacement defined by closing of spring coils. EFFECT: reduced time taken for testing compression springs. 1 dwg
