SHIP'S PROPELLER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; propellers for surface and submersible ships. SUBSTANCE: ship's propeller includes frame on which two slider-crank sine mechanisms with parallel guides are mounted. Sliders are brought into kinematic linkage at gear ratio equal to 1 and are shifted relative to each other in phase. Fixed guide is mounted between guides of sine mechanisms which is parallel to them; this guides divides distance between guides in half. Fixed guide forms rectilinear pair with slider. Sliders of sine mechanism and sliders of rectilinear pair are connected by means common connecting rod which is connected with any two if these three sliders by means of intermediate links forming revolving pair with sliders and rectilinear pair with common connecting rod. Connection of common connecting rod with third slider is effected by means of revolving pair. Blade connected to common connecting rod or to intermediate link is oriented along common connecting rod. During rotation of cranks, connection rods of sine mechanisms impart reciprocating to sliders at similar periods and phase shift. Central part of common connecting rod performs sinusoidal motion similar to wave-like motion performed by moving fauna and transmits this motion to blade connected with it directly or by means of intermediate link.
