FIELD: ballistic tests, measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine coefficient of head resistance of bodies having different aerodynamic form. It can be employed in rocket engineering, artillery and other fields of technology that study movement of body in gaseous and liquid media. Ballistic method determining coefficient of head resistance of body consists in simultaneous throwing of tested and standard bodies with same initial velocity, in consistent recording of coordinates of their characteristic points relative to immobile coordinate system at discrete time moments, in finding of values of displacement of characteristic points of tested and standard bodies, their masses, area of midship section, density of gas atmosphere. Coefficient of head resistance of tested body is computed by formulas. Formulas are derived on basis of solving of equation of motion of centers of masses of tested and standard bodies. According to invention coefficient of head resistance of tested body depends on displacement of characteristic points of tested and standard bodies only. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of determination of coefficient of head resistance of tested body, reduced number of measurements in one experiment. 2 cl, 3 dwg
