FIELD: metallurgy, mechanical engineering, radioelectronic industry. SUBSTANCE: method consists in forming the accelerating flow of working carrier gas, introducing particles of powder material in this flow, supplying the gas-and-powder mixture thus obtained to accelerating supersonic nozzle and applying powder material on surface of article. Prior to introducing the powder into flow of working gas, it is subjected to preliminary acceleration by inert gas (relative to starting powder material) to velocity determined number 0,3 ≤ M ≤ 1,0; gas-and- powder mixture is introduced in core of accelerating flow of working gas and prior to applying powder material on surface, powder particles are separated from gas. Device proposed for realization of this method, includes spraying unit made in form of accelerating supersonic nozzle with subsonic converging part and supersonic diverging part and intermediate nozzle, device for delivery of compressed gas carrier, device for introducing gas-and-powder mixture into spraying unit and feeder- proportioner, device for delivery of additional compressed inert (relative to power material) gas; intermediate nozzle is supersonic nozzle mounted coaxially for axial translational motion in this subsonic part; accelerating supersonic nozzle has linear section at outlet of its supersonic part which changes to section with curvilinear surface of radius R.
