FIELD: metal working; electric arc treatment of parts and blanks of various forms and sizes for removal of oxide film, scale and contamination from their surfaces. SUBSTANCE: method of electric arc treatment of metal articles in vacuum consists in initiating stable arc discharge between anode and surface of article acting as cathode and moving arc discharge relative to surface being treated; pulse component at preset parameters is applied to above-mentioned electrodes from power supply source and/or quasi-anode is formed in arc working current circuit. Plant includes vacuum chamber, device for creating vacuum, anode unit, cathode, for motion of article and anode relative to each other, power supply source for forming and maintaining an arc whose negative output is electrically connected with article being treated through cathode unit; it includes electric voltage converter and output current parameter setter which ensures supply of pulse component to anode and cathode electrodes at preset voltage and current parameters and/or above- mentioned unit contains two electrodes located at distance dictated by overall dimensions and cross section of article being treated. EFFECT: improved quality of cleaning articles of different configuration; increased productivity. 3 cl, 5 dwg
