FIELD: flaw inspections in construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves irradiation of part under inspection with electromagnetic signals at angle to its surface, reception of reflected electromagnetic signals, and measurement of parameters of reflected electromagnetic signals; measurement results serve as indications of flaws, if any; irradiation is made through insulating plate mounted on surface of part under inspection by means of transceiver antenna which has directivity pattern with its main lobe cosecant-shaped in one plane of one polar coordinate system and narrow directivity pattern in other plane; aperture of transceiver antenna is arranged inside insulating plate. In addition, reflected electromagnetic signals are received by first and second two-component elliptically polarizes receiving antennas whose apertures are arranged, respectively, behind and in front of transceiver antenna inside dielectric plate. EFFECT: improved accuracy, resolution, and confidence in detecting foreign metal or dielectric inclusions. 9 cl, 4 dwg
