FIELD: duplex communication between base station and selective-call user set. SUBSTANCE: method involves reestablishing communication between base station which transmits information through direct channel, and user set that suffered from temporary loss of direct channel, by means of notion of repeated registration interval. Base station transmits signal that shows duration of repeated registration interval to all user sets in its effective region. If user set suffers from temporary loss of direct channel, then method involves detection of fact that loss interval has greater length than repeated registration interval. If interval is exceeded, user set sends repeated registration signal to base station using reverse communication channel. Selective call receiver-transmitter is programmed for operation as user set that uses repeated registration interval. EFFECT: facilitated communication, increased reliability of communication between base station and user sets. 13 cl, 4 dwg, 1 tbl
