VIBRATION HONING DEVICE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2146592 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device relates to finishing abrasive working of materials difficult to work. It may also be used for holes honing. The device has tool body secured on thrust bearing loosely and vibrator mounted for interaction with tool body and with holders of abrasive bars. It also includes central drive shaft and vibrator cam shaped as a disc secured rigidly on central shaft and installed on boss at an angle to plane of rotation. The device also has satellite gear mounted on stationary axle and central toothed wheel secured rigidly on central drive shaft. Thrust bearing is made double. Tool body is connected rigidly to middle race of double thrust bearing. It is provided with internal toothed rim engaged with satellite gear which is in its turn engaged with central toothed wheel. Vibrator interacts with holders of abrasive bars through cam. Honing with oscillation of honing bars improves quality of surface being worked. Vibration in these directions in combination with the main motions inherent to traditional grinding cause cross movement of abrasive grains and change periodically cutting speed and friction force which facilitate considerably removal of material and formation of chips. Variable forces are redistributed in cutting plane actively, as a result of which self-oscillations are damped completely, and friction force is one-fourth of its normal value. It is most expedient to use the honing device for working of low-rigidly blanks made of alloys difficult to work. EFFECT: enhanced honing efficiency. 3 dwg
