Abstract RU 2146741 C1

FIELD: bridge-building industry. SUBSTANCE: breast-type abutment has front wall, supporting slab, intermediate slab, bed of draining material which widens in height, and embankment located on natural base. Embankment is made up of courses of compacted ground with coefficient of compaction equal to 0.97-0.98 and upper surface which is inclined with respect to slope valued at 0.01-3%. Bed of draining material is of height h. Height of bed is determined by following relation: h = (0.3-0.8)l/tga, l - length of supporting slab in longitudinal direction of bridge axis; a - angle of widening of bed in its height which is no less than 45 deg. End face of supporting slab is located from upper edge of bed or upper edge of embankment at distance no less than 1 m. Application of aforesaid embodiment of bridge abutment allows for cutting labour and material inputs in erection of abutment. Also construction periods are reduced with simultaneous ensuring reliability and long service life of structure. In addition, All construction operations can be fully mechanized.
