FIELD: bridge building. SUBSTANCE: sofa-type abutment has the cabinet part, bedplate resting against a pad of drainage ground located on the ground of the embankment cone. The novelty is in the fact that, when the bedplate is used for the framework of a railway bridge, it is made with a relation of the length along the bridge and the width across the bridge determined by dependence a=(1.62-0.62) b, where a - bedplate length along the bridge, b - bedplate width across the bridge, distance d from the axis of framework resting against the abutment to the bedplate end edge nearest to the framework is determined by dependence d=(0.25-0.75)f, where f - distance from the resting axis to the bedplate end edge that is most remote from the framework. The bedplate and/or the cabinet part may be done monolithic or built-up - monolithic or built up of separate rigidly combined blocks, whose dimensions do not exceed the dimensions of the railway rolling stock. EFFECT: the structure fitted for use in railway bridges used for perception of load from rolling stock, enhanced bearing capacity of abutment and reduced labour and material expenditures at erection. 4 cl, 5 dwg
