FIELD: bridge building. SUBSTANCE: method consists in erection of additional supporting members, dismantling of the existing girder framework during interruption of movement and restoration of the upper road structure. The novelty is in the fact that at reconstruction of shot or medium single-span bridges on acting roads prior to erection of the additional supporting members or simultaneously with their erection dismantling of the upper part of the old abutments is accomplished up to the elevation located below the elevation of the bottom of the new framework by 0.05 to 0.65 of the height of the new framework. The additional supporting members are made in the form of new sofa-type abutments with bearing plates, and they are erected behind the old abutments. The bearing plates of the new sofa-type abutments rest against a rubble pad that is poured off on an embankment behind the old abutments compacted in the process of service, and the front wall of the bearing plate rest against the non-dismantled part of the old abutments. After that the new framework is mounted, its length exceeding the length of the old framework, which should rest against the new sofa-type abutments. EFFECT: enhanced reliability, durability of reconstructed bridge and reduced labour and material expenditures due to exclusion of the necessity of diversion of water-flow bed. 3 cl, 2 dwg
