FIELD: construction of bridge piers, overbridges, overpasses. SUBSTANCE: pier has closet wall, supporting slab, crossing slab, cushion diverging through height and made of drain material, as well as embankment. Novelty is that supporting slab is spaced at distance a along bridge from span axis resting on pier to the nearest butt-end edge of supporting slab; mentioned distance a = (0.5- 1.0)b, m, where b is distance along bridge from span axis resting on pier to butt-end edge of supporting slab uttermost from span, m; height h of cushion made of drain material equals distance between lower surface of supporting slab and natural foot; cushion of drain material rests on natural foot and is made in the form of truncated pyramid whose edges on top base are spaced from butt-ends of supporting slab along and/or across bridge at distance l of at least 1 m. EFFECT: reduced deformation of pier due to reduced cushion drafts; improved reliability and service life due to optimal operating conditions. 6 cl, 1 dwg
