FIELD: instrumentation, manufacture of navigation systems for aircraft, ships, spacecraft, of controlled drilling heads. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of balancing lies in anchoring of resonator by stem, in setting of piezoelectric pickup on free end of stem, in excitation of oscillations, in measurement of voltage of pickup for various orientations of standing wave in resonator, in computation of unbalanced mass by mathematical processing of obtained experimental data and in removal of unbalanced mass from surface of hemispherical jacket of resonator by ion beam. Method makes it feasible to obtain balancing precision to 30 mcgr with preservation of high acoustic figure-of-merit of resonator to 107 and higher and to balance resonators having no balancing teeth. EFFECT: increased balancing precision with preservation of high figure-of-merit of resonator. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
