FIELD: investigating high-energy roentgen or gamma rays. SUBSTANCE: detector depends for its operation on ionization effect of secondary electrons produced due to interaction between rays and working gas supplied under pressure. It has many ionization-chamber matrix units mounted on frame. Each unit has cover 1, port 2, electrode set 3 with supporting member 4, side walls 5, insulators 6 with cermet packing, working-gas outlet port 7, and stiffening ribs 8. Each unit is filled with working gas held at pressure of 106 to 107 Pa. Central axis of each matrix unit is aimed at radiation source. Object to be analyzed is wholly placed in field of vision of matrix detector. EFFECT: improved detecting efficiency and image quality. 13 cl, 7 dwg
