FIELD: production of rolled and drawn products, namely manufacture of multipurpose wire from different metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of lengthwise cutting of belt by rectangular blanks and reducing them to final dimension. Cut blank is rolled in roller-type rolling stand at forming edge of blank in rough upset passes with radius R=(0.45-. 48)h, where h is belt thickness. Angle between faces of blank joined with respective edges α= 28-34 deg. Rectangular blanks may be made of secondary raw material such as edge crops. EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities due to widened assortment of wire, namely due to manufacture of profiles with diameter more than that of initial belt, lowered cost price, less loss of yield, improved ecology. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
