FIELD: carbon materials. SUBSTANCE: powdered carbon-containing material is mixed with binder to form granules that are then compressed, carbonized, and activated with water steam. According to invention, compressed granules are cooled to 15-25 C in air flow, carbonization is carried out in rotary drum furnace at temperature difference 50 to 200 C between granules and gas phase at drum inlet, and activation is accomplished by alternatively piercing granule bed with steam in direction perpendicular to granule bed travel.
