FIELD: reworking of domestic, industrial, medical and other wastes; decontamination of wastes; various industries and public services. SUBSTANCE: method includes drying, pyrolysis of dried wastes separating them into solid residual and gaseous component, delivery of solid residual to slag-and-metal melt into bath of electric furnace, introducing gaseous component of pyrolysis in contact with slag-and- metal and delivery of compounds of alkali-earth metals. Prior to delivery of solid residual, melted slag is prepared in bath and heated to temperature of 1400 to 1500 C, after which materials and wastes containing metallic iron are charge into melt thus obtained to prepare slag-and-ferrous melt. Solid residual of pyrolysis containing salts and oxides of heavy metals and carbon is fed to melt at simultaneous delivery of compound of alkali-earth metals to surface of slag for reduction of salts and oxides of heavy metals by carbon of solid residue of pyrolysis or carbon at dissolving of heavy metals in ferrous melt. Gaseous component of pyrolysis is brought into contact with entire surface of liquid slag-and- metal. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cleaning gases and solid residue of pyrolysis against toxic components. 1 ex
