FIELD: chemical technology, sorbents. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of sorbents based on activated carbon and used for scrubbing technological and ventilation exhausting gases from mercury vapor. Sorbent consists of activated carbon (total pore volume is 0.5-0.75 cm3/g) and insoluble sulfur applied on its in the amount 2-10 wt.-% of carbon mass. Sorbent is prepared by treatment of activated carbon taken mainly as granules (size is 1.0-5.0 mm) at first with carbon disulfide vapor or air-steam mixture with carbon sulfide for 9-10 h and then with steam for 1 h at vapors temperature 100-120 C. EFFECT: increased absorbing capacity of sorbent, broadened exploitation pattern. 3 cl, 3 ex
