FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is method which comprises dehydrochlorination of di- and polychloroalkanes with 30-50% aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of 0.4-2 wt.% of catalyst. Catalyst is prepared by reacting polyethylene polyamines and alkylated derivatives thereof with benzyl chloride at molar ratio of 1:1-5.
