FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ion-exchange filter- assisted treatment of natural and waste waters as well as liquid solutions for application in power engineering, metallurgy, chemical and other industries utilizing in their operations desalted or softened water. UPCORE-type ionites are regenerated in a process including stage in which ionite bed is held down by upward directed liquid medium current. Holding-down process is accomplished in pulse mode, where water is supplied at least between two pulses. Amplitude of the first one is not lower than the height of free space zone over ionite bed at the end of working cycle and amplitude of the next pulse is not inferior to the amplitude of reflected wave arising after decay of preceding pulse. Inter- pulse period does not exceed time required for passage of reflected wave from preceding pulse through ionite bed. EFFECT: achieved more complete removal of pollutions from ionite bed allowing more efficient regeneration of ionite, in which regeneration time is reduced by 5-7% depending on nature and service time of ionite and water consumption is reduced by 10-12%. 3 cl, 4 dwg, 2 tbl
