FIELD: heating engines of miscellaneous mobile machines and vehicles kept outdoors at sub-zero temperatures. SUBSTANCE: phase-transition heat storage used as heat energy source for pre-start engine heating has melting-to-crystallization phase-transition heat-accumulating material capable of cooling down in liquid phase below crystallization temperature (overcooled liquid). Such heat storage makes it possible to dispense with effective heat insulation; no sophisticated design features are required to eliminate so-called thermal bridges.
