FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines. SUBSTANCE: phase transition heat accumulator is used as heat source in proposed system. Heat accumulator utilizes and accumulates thermal energy of exhaust gases of internal combustion engine. It consists of outer housing, heat insulation layer and heat accumulating core with heat accumulating material capable of reversible phase transition "melting crystallization", and gas tubular heat exchanger. The latter is used both for accumulation of heat by passage of exhaust gas flow through heat exchanger and for liberation of heat owing to organization of positive movement of air along air main line consisting of air ducts, air filter and fan delivering hot air into engine crankcase space. Air heats main and crankpin bearing in crankcase space and oil in sump. Fan should be switched on 2 - 3 h before starting the engine. This system is suitable for vehicles parked outdoors for periods not exceeding 4 - 6 h at ambient temperature down to minus 30 C, for instance, city passenger buses.
