FIELD: mechanical engineering for transport. SUBSTANCE: resistance furnace used for heating automatic couplers during their repairs by welding and metal building-up, straightening of their shanks, and heat treatment has frame and one or more adjacent chambers with vertical working space and upper filler port which are made of fireproof layer and heat-insulating layers. Heating elements are placed downstream of working space loop; automatic heating-process control system incorporates thermal converters. Slab is installed on top of frame in horizontal position. Upper surface of supporting slab in maximal cross- sectional area of part head carries heat-insulating dome. Each chamber has at least two separately operating sections, one placed on top of other, for differential heating of part zones; supporting slab has shaped holes opposite filler ports of chambers; seating saddles are mounted to receive heads of automatic coupler case when shank is positioned vertically inside working space of chamber; heating temperature range of each chamber section is 200-1100 C. EFFECT: reduced energy requirement, improved quality of repair and post-repair serviceability, reduced maintenance charges. 2 dwg
