FIELD: railway transport; permanent ways. SUBSTANCE: ballast spreading machine with machine frame moving on rail running bogies is equipped with adjustable ballast section leveller for track ballasting. Noncontact feeling device is placed before ballast section leveller in working direction of machine for revealing actual profile of ballast section passing perpendicular to longitudinal direction of rail track or longitudinal axis of machine. Ballast section leveller has position pickups for revealing relative change of position relative to machine frame. Control device has storage unit for accumulating data on preset profile of ballast section. Thus possibility is provided to reveal sections of rail track with insufficient or excessive amount of ballast and to control ballast section leveller to provide uniform ballasting of rail track.
