METHOD OF TIE TAMPING AND TIE TAMPING OUTFIT Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: method of tamping ties of rail track limited by two running gears with formation of track-raising section comes to the following: track raising section is increased in longitudinal direction during first working run to raise track and add ballast under track. During following working run track-raising section is shortened for forming final preset position and tamping the ties. Proposed tie tamping outfit has frame resting on running gears on ends and moving along rail track, and additional frame located between running gears and connected at one end with frame of outfit by means of hinge joint for travel in longitudinal direction and furnished with running gear on opposite end for resting on rail track. In area of running gear coupled with additional frame, additional frame is connected, through drive, with guide rollers located on frame of outfit for movement in longitudinal direction. Invention makes it possible to quickly tamp ties after adding new ballast and create outfit which can be used for tamping both tracks after adding new ballast, and for conventional tie tamping.
