FIELD: polymerization catalysts. SUBSTANCE: complex useful as catalyst for copolymerization of dienes and vinylaromatic monomers is prepared by interaction of ethyl chloride with fine dispersion of lithium and organic compound under inert gas atmosphere at stirring, said organic compound being a monomer selected from group including: ethylene, butadiene, isoprene, piperylene, styrene, and butadiene-styrene mixture. Reaction is carried out in two steps. Ethyl chloride is first mixed with lithium dispersion at molar ratio 1: (2.05-2.10) and reaction proceeds at 50-60 C. In the second step, above-mentioned monomer is added to reaction mixture at monomer-to-lithium chloride molar ratio (0.25-1.00):1.
