FIELD: chemical, semiconductor, perfumery, medical and a food-processing industries. SUBSTANCE: invention is dealt with catalysts and methods of production of nitrous protoxide (N2O)M using oxidation of ammonia by oxygen or oxygen-containing gas. Nitrous protoxide finds broad application in different areas of a national economy: in semiconductor, perfumery, medical and food-processing industry. The catalyst and a method of production of nitrous protoxide by oxidation of ammonia by oxygen or oxygen-containing gas at the presence of manganous active component, an iron oxide and oxide or blend of oxides of alkaline-earth metals are described. The catalyst contains as an active component composition representing blended amorphous oxidic phase of non- stoichiometric composition MnRxOy(0,05≤x≤2,24;2,08≤y≤5,36), where R - bismuth and / or lanthanide or blend of an amorphous oxidic phase of composition MnRxOy and crystalline manganous phase. Process of production of nitrous protoxide using oxidation of ammonia by oxygen or oxygen-containing gas at the presence of the manganous catalyst of indicated above composition is carried out under the temperature of 250-450 C.
