FIELD: metallurgy of heavy non-ferrous metals, in particular, electrolytic refining of nickel. SUBSTANCE: cathode cell of electrolyzer for electrolytic refining of nickel includes dielectric frame, nickel base inside it, diaphragm partition made of cloth containing cotton 33-36% and polyester 64-67% and having resistance not more than 13.5 ohmcm2, water permeability 15-35 l/h m2, surface density 780-830 g/m2. In this case rate of circulation of catholyte 23-28 l/h and current density 180-270 A/m2 are maintained. EFFECT: reduced usage of materials and energy consumption, prolonged life cycle of diaphragm cell and enhanced quality of metal. 1 tbl
