APPARATUS FOR MAKING CASTINGS WITH DIRECTED MONOCRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: foundry, particularly, manufacture of castings with directed and monocrystalline structure, particularly blades for gas turbine engines and gas turbine plants. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes vacuum chamber inside which there are induction furnace, furnace for heating molds with outer heat insulation, ceramic mold, mechanism for moving mold and extensible screen. Screen separates heating zone and cooling zone in the form of water-cooled vessel with cavity for water circulation. Upper portion of water-cooled vessel is provided with water-cooled cover having opening for passing mold. Tubes for feeding inert gas to cover opening are arranged inside cavity for water circulation in water-cooled vessel and cover. In lower portion of outer heat insulation along perimeter of furnace for heating up molds over screen there are tubes for removing inert gas, outlets of said tubes are joined to closed casing. At passing mold through screen it is blown with cooled inert gas. It allows to increase temperature gradient of front of alloy crystallization. EFFECT: manufacture of large-size blades with normalized macrostructure, less loss of yield due to enhanced rate of cooling castings. 3 cl, 1 dwg
