FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: invention describes dermatan sulfate or its salt with intrinsic viscosity value 0.8 (100 ml/g) or above using 0.2 M sodium chloride solution as solvent at 30 ± 0.1 C. Indicated dermatan sulfate has 0.15% or less of heparin or heparan sulfate determined by method involving treatment with enzymes that cleave heparin or heparan sulfate and high pressure liquid chromatography. Dermatan sulfate has also 0.07% or less of heparin or heparan sulfate determined by inhibitory effect of active factor in the presence of antithrombin-III using heparin isolated from cow guts as standard substance or 0.05% of less of heparin or heparan sulfate determined by inhibitory effect of active factor-II in the presence of antithrombin-III using heparin isolated from cow guts as standard substance. Dermatan sulfates or their salts are antithrombotic agents that inhibit thrombus distribution and stimulate their lysis.
