FIELD: nuclear waste disposal. SUBSTANCE: container has metal cylindrical internal and external shells with bottoms; space between shells is filled with reinforced concrete. Container is also provided with additional metal cylindrical shell incorporating ferrule projecting beyond bottom of external cylindrical shell and embracing the latter to form space filled with reinforced concrete of lower strength. Reinforcement in space between internal and external cylindrical shells is double annular structure in the form of lattices with longitudinal and annular members. Annular members of lattices are joined together by means of U-shaped pieces uniformly arranged over circumference. Failure of container in case of emergency situations is prevented by reducing effective loads due to pliability of shock-absorbing members (concrete layer, damping rings) and plastic deformation of components made on bottom and in cover.
