FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method may be used for machining of blanks by means of abrasive tool with supply of cutting fluids. Grinding is performed according to cycle including steps of preliminary and final machining. To ensure high efficiency of machining during preliminary steps, when removing basic part of allowance, grinding is performed by wheel which graininess exceeds that corresponding to requirements for ground surface quality. Water cutting fluid is supplied to machining zone by pouring or with the aid of jet under pressure. When changing to step of final machining, water cutting fluid with abrasive powder introduced into it is supplied to cutting zone. In this case, abrasive tool is moved aside from blank surface being machined for a distance not exceeding size of abrasive powder grain. Abrasive powder grains getting into space between working surface of wheel having developed microrelief and blank material cause mass microscratches on surface being machined which improves ground surface quality. Since powder graininess is sufficiently high removal of large-sized mechanical particles, when cleaning of cutting fluid is not difficult. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
